The Days of Wine & Roses
The jazz standard tune “Days of Wine and Roses”, by Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer, is the theme of our current art show. Some of the lyrics to describe the theme:
“Filled with memories
Of the golden smile that introduced me to
The Days of Wine and Roses and you.”
The phrase “days of wine and roses” is originally from the poem “Vitae Summa Brevis” by the English writer Ernest Dowson (1867–1900):
They are not long, the days of wine and roses:
Out of a misty dream
Our path emerges for a while, then closes
Within a dream.
