Dia de los Muertos

Dia de los Muertos 2011


You are invited to join us for our annual homage to Dia de los Muertos / Day of the Dead with a cultural celebration in the tradition of the Hispanic Southwest.  Community groups, guest artists and gallery members pay personal tribute to Dia de los Muertos with altars, ofrendas (offerings), paintings and sculpture.  All events are open to the public, donations appreciated!  (Please, no cameras or recording equipment).

Opening Celebration - Wednesday November 2 - 6:00 to 9:00 PM

Dia de los Muertos - Welcoming, blessing of the altars, lighting of candles, community potluck (bring your favorite dish to share), refreshments, music and children's art activities.

Saturday November 5 - 6:00 to 9:00 PM

First Saturday - Join us for First Saturday on 6th Street and enjoy refreshments and music.  Bring the kids - lots of fun children's art  activities!

Saturday November 26 - 6:00 to 9:00 PM

Closing celebration - Join us for our closing celebration with a special poetry performance featuring Tucson's own and nationally published Mujeres Que Escriben (Women Who Write).  Doors open at 6:00 pm and poetry reading begins at 7:30 pm.  Donations appreciated!


Exhibition runs November 2 - November 26, 2011

Regular gallery hours:  Friday and Saturday  1:00 - 5:00 PM or by appointment.
Teachers are encouraged to call for field trip information!
